Louise and Scott – Sherbrooke Castle Hotel

We’re very much back in Autumn now. The colours are changing again, the temperature is dropping and the evening light is fading fast. Next week the clocks go back to signify the end of British Summertime. Despite the changing climate, this is a very special time to get married. When the sun peaks through the clouds and falls on the rustic colours of the beech, oak, rowan and birch trees adorning the West of Scotland, there are few places I’d rather be in Autumn. The sun never rises high and the light remains golden throughout the day. It’s a warm and comforting time, a time for wholesome cooking, a time for family loving, and a time for a wee dram and a wee celebration.

Louise and Scott had the perfect celebration. They married amongst friends and family at an intimate and very touching ceremony at the majestic Sherbrooke Castle Hotel in Glasgow. The delightful Mandy Evans Ewing conducted the ceremony with expert assistance from a few very special youngsters. Louise and Scott have five exceptional kids and, to their enormous credit,  they all played the major roles in this wedding as well as anyone I’ve seen previously. Fifteen year old Jordan proudly walked his mum down the aisle. Seven year Kayla, was her mum’s perfect flower girl. Eleven year old Ben bore the rings for his dad alongside his elder brother Jamie, who, doubled up with step-brother Bradley to form one of greatest comedy double acts ever!  They delivered and performed a very funny and perfectly timed pre-dinner speech for the happy couple. They were all fantastic and the whole day turned into a wonderful family affair.

As usual the Sherbrooke Castle staff had everything timed to perfection – they always seem to host the most relaxed weddings ever. Thanks to William and his team for looking after everyone but special thanks must go to Louise and Scott for allowing me to be a part of your special day. You have a wonderful family, five exceptional kids, and I wish you many, many years of happiness ahead.  It really was a warm and comforting time, a time for family loving, and here are a few reminders of a beautiful autumn wedding……
