Gemma and John – Married at the Crutherland Hotel, East Kilbride

Gemma and John were married in the beautiful Crutherland Hotel in East Kilbride on a bright, but windy autumn day. The Crutherland has something of a unique wedding function suite – ceremony upstairs in one room, drinks downstairs in another, food then served upstairs, and finish with a party downstairs! It means the fun never stops!

I met John for the first time a few years ago – at his brother Kenny’s wedding to my niece Louise. Kenny reversed roles this time around and was John’s best man complete with a few tales of John and his attraction to Louise’s handbag and Italian TV stars! Gemma hails from deepest Englandshire but she is now formally an adopted Scot – a benefit of signing the register! A bus load of her family travelled to help her celebrate her wedding and boy did they celebrate! From my vantage point, every guest looked to be having a great time and the party just never stopped.

Katie and I enjoyed a wonderful wedding and the laughter never stopped all day. We arrived early to meet Gemma and her bridesmaids – Sarah, Laura and David and the girls preparations were remarkably relaxed and laid back and the Champagne worked it’s magic. The reception theme reflected John and Gemma’s love for the movies with tables named after their favourite flick, clapper boards for the photographers, and John’s 3D images and glasses adding a whole lot of fun. All topped off with the most fantastic wedding cake ever – complete with movie reels and adorned with the film-goers staple requirement – popcorn!

It was a lovely day all round and I wish Gemma and John all the happiness in the world as they start on their new journey together. It was great to meet both families and all of your friends. Here are a few early reminders of a really fantastic day…….
