Kathryn and Mishari – Strathaven Hotel August 2012

Elegant, graceful, chic, sophisticated, colourful, vibrant and beautiful. Only a few of the many superlatives I could use to describe this wonderful wedding. Kathryn and Mishari brought family and friends together from around the globe to help celebrate their marriage. It was a very special day indeed. The rain tried hard to spoil things again but old mother nature was defeated once more by the sunshine on show indoors. The Strathaven Hotel is such a welcoming wedding venue and Kathryn and Mishari took full advantage of all that Sheila and Malcolm have to offer and the whole event was staged at the hotel – from hair stylists, make-up artists and morning preparations, a delightful and touching ceremony in the west lounge which included the ancient Scots tradition of “Handfasting”,  through to a wonderful feast and a fabulous ceilidh band to finish off the evening. The pipes and drums brought a resplendent Scottish feel to the proceedings throughout the day and a taste of Scottish culture for the overseas visitors. Katie and I loved every minute!

Kathryn and Mishari, I wish you every health and happiness in your new life together. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your special day. To both sets of parents, grans, brothers, sisters, cousins, family and friends, thank you all for your patience and help throughout the day and here’s a few reminders of what made it so special:

Derek and Laura – Hamilton Town House, August 2012

No more whispers – the sun really did shine brightly for Laura and Derek! What a treat to photograph a wedding in nice weather. I’d almost forgotten what’s it’s like to shoot without the threat of rain. But this time around all I had to moan about was the heat in that registry office! Phew!

This has been the most challenging of summers (can we really call it a summer?) but when the sun shines in Scotland it makes days like these much less complicated and so much more enjoyable!

Laura and Derek met a long time ago when they were both whipper snappers! They met in college and love has blossomed in the years that followed. It was such a treat to get to meet them recently and photograph their wedding. Katie and I had a laugh throughout the day and loved all of the finer details (well done Tricia!) but I especially liked that big Rolls Royce and Gordon’s father of the bride speech – just wish I had recorded it for future use!

Thanks to you both for being such good sports and here’s to a long and happy life together. A few reminders of your special day to set you on your way…………

Laura & Derek – Pre-Wedding Shoot

Laura and Derek’s big day is fast approaching and we got together recently to go over the finer details of their arrangements and get in a little practice photo shoot before the main event. What a lovely young couple they turned out to be and it was great to see how relaxed they are in each other’s company. I think we are in for a treat on their wedding day and, whisper it, the sun is forecast to put in an appearance!

Julie & Kenny – Tied the Knot!

Kenny & Julie have a wonderful chemistry together. They adore each other and tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at the East Church in Strathaven before celebrating with family and friends at the Strathaven Hotel. They also know how to party and introduced a fantastic crowd from Lancashire to some good old Stra’ven hospitality over a long weekend. No doubt there would have been a few headaches next morning but I’m sure everyone left with loads of great memories. Here’s to a long and happy life together, thank you for making Katie and I laugh all day, and I thought I would post a few early but permanent contributions for Dad’s coffee table!

Grace and Peter – Mr & Mrs!

What a day with Grace and Peter. You couldn’t wish to meet a nicer couple. They threw a party – a brilliant big party! They were married in St Thomas’s church in Wishaw and,  guess what, it didn’t even rain! We had a great time – exhausting but great fun. Both families are a laugh a minute and it was great to get know so many of them. And boy there was  a load of them! Thanks to you all for your patience throughout the day and a special thanks to Grace and Peter for being such good sports. I wish you every success in your new life together and lots of happiness and laughter for many, many years. Here are a few early memories of your special day.

Julie and Kenny Are Getting Hitched!

I’ve been corresponding with Julie and Kenny for some time now but they live so far away in Englandshire that it’s been almost impossible to get together for an engagement shoot. Today we finally managed to meet up and I was delighted to discover they are exactly as I thought they would be – relaxed, warm, friendly, and excited about their forthcoming wedding. Julie’s family are travelling up north to savour some fine Strathaven hospitality. I hope you all have a wonderful time and we’re so looking forward to helping you celebrate your big day.
